There In the distance

There in the distance

I heard the sound of summer rain tapping at my window sill

So I stared at it for a short while listening to the patter the water droplets made as they landed

I followed there call for company and went outside

I witnessed as the hot water landed in the palm of my hand

I listened as a thousand water droplets dust the hair of my forearm

framing my skin in crystal spheres

Soaking in summer rain is my favorite daydream

Silver souvenirs only taught by little humans

Where giggling is the secret password and play is the hushed secret

There in the distance, I saw rain

I saw it waltz across the atmosphere

And travel until it went home just past the horizon

a quarter till dusk

There in the distance, I saw it pass

I saw it hold you in memory foam

still water silence

unwavering presence

Too sincere to ignore

Too urgent to go unnoticed

There is the distance is

where I saw love

blinked into the undercurrent of our earthly realm

Chasing us home
